Ringo Massa awarded FAI Air Sport Medal

Published: 15th Nov 2019 by Civa News

Following discussions between CIVA bureau members earlier this year, we are pleased to announce that Ringo Massa has been awarded an FAI Air Sport medal for his outstanding development work with the aerobatic sequence design software OpenAero, universally used now to create sequences in every category.

Based originally on the OLAN 'One Letter Aerobatic Notation' project launched by Michael Golan many years ago, OpenAero is an open-source application available from OpenAero.net that runs in your browser. This makes it available on practically any computer, tablet and even smartphone. Once you have the software installed your current version will also be available to you when you are offline. OpenAero validates a sequence under construction after every step, immediately providing valuable advice regarding legal / non-legal aspects according to the category and rules you have selected.

Ringo's home is in the Netherlands, where he operates an Extra-300S in the Advanced category. A KLM First Officer, he also has a fine aerobatic competition record and flew the Extra to an excellent 32nd place in the 2017 European Advanced Aerobatic Championships at Chotěboř in the Czech Republic.

Ends.
